Official Net Day and Time!

Friends and radio amateurs,

After a productive month of May, trying out various days and times for the net, we have decided on a schedule moving forward. This is no easy task, and I'd like to thank everyone who checked in to the net to provide feedback. This decision was based purely on the numbers - stations checking in and the length of the net. The new time of the net will be:

Monday, 8:30 PM Eastern, TG3126

While based on the evidence from the nets being held, this decision was not made lightly. We've selected this time to accommodate those who like to attend the Michigan ARES D-Star Net, Monday's at 8:00 PM. With summer almost here and the sun staying out longer to play, the 8:30 PM time is a little later, helping us to all get our needed Vitamin D. Lastly, Monday is mainly a clear day in terms of DMR nets, allowing operators to also participate in the Indiana statewide net on Tuesday, the Ohio statewide net on Wednesday - among others.

Tuesday, while being discussed as a potentially great day for the net (to accommodate those on the large GM net) failed to see any of those stations checking in. I wanted to give those operators a chance to stop by the net, however the interest currently does not seem to be there. In addition I know there are some times when BrandMeister gets pear-shaped on DMRX, causing issues for other operators on the east side. Hopefully we can work through those technical issues and one day soon welcome those operators to the net.

So that's it for now folks - please spread the word and hopefully now that the net has a solid day and time, we'll see some more check-ins and fellowship each week.

MichiganONE DMR Net for 5/28/2019

Net Summary

Stations Checked In: 4
Net Closed: 7:09 (7:00 PM start)

The net today saw 4 stations checking in, including 1 new station, on this "post-Memorial Day" edition of the net. Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable holiday, and took some time to remember those who have paid the ultimate price serving this great country.

As mentioned by KD8MKE on the net this evening, thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by the storms and tornadoes down in Ohio within the last 24 hours - hopefully everyone is safe and sorted. The Hara Arena (former venue of the Dayton Hamvention) was hit fairly hard, and it's certainly not a good thing for the former stomping groups of one fine hamfest.

Attendance was very light this week, not giving much credence to holding the net on a Tuesday. The holiday weekend, and earlier time may have been a contributing factors here as well. More information on when the net will be held will be coming soon, so be on the lookout for that.

MichiganONE DMR Net for 5/21/2019

Net Summary

Stations Checked In: 9
Net Closed: 7:46 PM (7:00 PM start)

The net today saw 9 stations checking in, including 4 new stations, on this "Hamvention Hangover" edition of the net. New to the net were KB8POO, KC8EPQ, AD8BV, and N8GY - thank you for checking in and welcome to the net. Net regular (and founding member) James W6AQT gave us an excellent run down of his time in Xenia, including the forums he visited and the goodies he brought home.

The net was held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM today, as a trial of the day and time. It seemed to have positive feedback, however we'll have to see next week if the check-in numbers come up. I will post a survey after next week on this site to solicit feedback on the best day and time for the net. If you have not subscribed, please do so in the box to the right, so you can get our email updates delivered directly to your inbox.

Announcements
  • Just a reminder - the net next week will again be on TUESDAY at 7:00 PM. We will be seeing if Tuesday at an earlier time is a better slot for the net.
  • After May all these changes will stop and the day and time will be finalized. Be sure to subscribe to our site, so you get emailed updates when we post information.
  • I will post a survey on our site where you can provide feedback on the day and time of the net, so look for that in the coming weeks. As always you can drop me an email at n8rma@michiganonedmr.net
    • We had some inclement weather here in the last week - it's a good reminder to have extra batteries charged, first aid kits and flashlights handy, and etc. Remember TG 31260 on BrandMeister is designated for Michigan AREAS and weather alerting, so make sure to have that programmed.
    • No reported changes for any Michigan DMR repeaters within the last week.

    MichiganONE DMR Net for 5/13/2019

    Net Summary

    Stations Checked In: 17
Net Closed: 9:12 PM (8:30 PM start)

The net today saw 17 stations checking in, including 6 new stations, on this "Hamvention Eve" edition of the net. Lots of operators shared their plans for Xenia, from shopping wish lists to seminars they plan to attend - sounds like it's going to be a good one. For anyone headed down this weekend, motor safe and have a blast.

The net was held at 8:30 PM tonight, the second time we've tried this out. It seemed to have a good turn out, especially from our friends over in Ann Arbor (we should rename this to the Ann ArborONE DMR Net hihi) so we may have to keep this time come June. Newcomer to the net K8RWN had an excellent point that as summer pushes the daylight out, the later start time might just be the ticket - I have to agree!

Remember that next week the net will be on TUESDAY @ 7:00 PM! Next week and the following week, we'll be trying Tuesday and earlier to see what we can't reel in for check-ins. I'll be on 3126 Monday to catch anyone who may have missed the reminder, but feel free to share. Remember, this is only for the last two weeks in May - afterward we'll make the call on the best day and time. It's a good idea to subscribe to the site, so you'll catch any news posted as it's delivered right to your inbox. As always, if you have a preference let me know! You can drop me an email at n8rma@michiganonedmr.net or leave a comment below.

      MichiganONE DMR Net for 5/6/2019

      Net Summary

      Stations Checked In: 14
Net Closed: 9:03 PM (8:30 PM Start)

The net today saw 14 stations checking in, including 4 new stations, on this "more technically challenging than usual" edition of the net. The NCS (N8RMA) was having hotspot issues and had to swap to his HT during the preamble - always a good way to kick off the net! The crew over in Ann Arbor discovered that local 9 was on the same timeslot as 3126, and may have been causing a conflict both in and out of the talkgroup. These are all good things to discover and to work around - it's why we're here and why we do these informal nets. Great job to everyone for keeping their head on a swivel and making a successful net.

Tonight we also pushed the net to 8:30 PM, in the hopes of bringing more stations to the net, mainly those from the GM net and from the Michigan ARES D-Star net. While we did have some additional new stations check in (which is fantastic) the count was within the margins for previous weeks. The net will also be held next week at 8:30 PM, so we'll have a clearer picture then. If you have a preference, drop me an email at n8rma@michiganonedmr.net and let me know.
